Short Description
We are seeking an experienced Mud Technician or Rig Hand to support a major HDD project in Scotland. Working alongside the Drilling Supervisor, HDD Driller, and rig crew, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the drilling fluids system on a 300-ton fully electric maxi rig.
Function Description
You Will Be Expected To
- Assist with the mixing, monitoring, conditioning, and recycling of drilling fluids for HDD operations.
- Support the operation and maintenance of mud systems and recycling equipment.
- Carry out routine mud checks and basic testing procedures.
- Monitor fluid levels and assist with the addition of drilling fluid products and additives as directed.
- Help maintain cleanliness and efficiency of the mud system and work areas.
- Record fluid usage, volumes, and other operational data.
- Support the drilling team with general rig and site activities when required.
- Follow project safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times.

Requirements
- Previous experience on HDD, drilling, trenchless, oil & gas, water well, mining, or similar drilling projects.
- Experience working with drilling fluids, mud systems, solids control equipment, or recycling units is advantageous.
- Candidates with experience as a Rig Hand, Mud Technician, Mud Engineer, Driller's Assistant, or similar roles are encouraged to apply.
- Understanding of drilling fluid systems and basic mud testing procedures is desirable but not essential.
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent site certification preferred.
- Full right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team on a large-scale HDD project.
