Short Description
Our client is a leading specialist in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), delivering complex trenchless installation projects across the environmental, transport infrastructure, and offshore renewable energy sectors. The project in Redcar involves the installation of pipelines, ducts, and cables using advanced HDD techniques, supporting critical infrastructure with minimal environmental impact and disruption.
Function Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HDD Rig Hand to join the drilling crew on a major HDD project in Redcar, UK. Working alongside the Driller and drilling team, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of trenchless installation works. The HDD Rig Hand will assist with daily drilling operations, equipment maintenance, drilling fluid management, pipe handling activities, and general site operations while ensuring all work is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards.

For This Project, Your Main Responsibilities Will Be
- Assist the HDD Driller during pilot hole, reaming, and pullback operations.
- Operate and maintain drilling support equipment, including mud mixing and recycling systems.
- Handle drill rods, tooling, pipes, and associated drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support the setup, operation, and breakdown of HDD drilling equipment and work areas.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance activities.
- Monitor drilling fluid levels and assist with mixing and maintenance of drilling mud systems.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and UK health & safety regulations.

Requirements
- Previous experience as an HDD Rig Hand, Drilling Operative, or in a similar trenchless construction role.
- Experience working on HDD, utility, pipeline, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of drilling operations, drilling fluids, and HDD equipment.
- Valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
- UK right to work permit or equivalent.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
