HDD & Survey Engineer

Westhill, Aberdeenshire

Full Time, Permanent

Nicol of Skene are looking for an HDD & Survey Engineer to join our innovative and growing team.

This is a unique opportunity to work in our Horizontal Directional Drilling department assisting and developing HDD designs & feasibility reports. Previous geotechnical, site engineering or land surveying experience, plus excellent working knowledge of CAD and Digital Terrain Software is required. Full training will be provided in HDD works.

The role is a full time, permanent position, based in our main office in Westhill, Aberdeenshire and covering our sites across the UK.

The Duties

  • Undertake topographical surveys and process survey data for design and construction purposes.
  • Liaise with clients, utility owners, subcontractors, and site teams to obtain and verify project information.
  • Review technical and construction information to produce accurate drawings including HDD bore profiles, layouts, and as-built records.
  • Assist in the preparation of HDD feasibility studies, and technical reports.
  • Carry out site visits to undertake surveys, verify design information, support, and monitor project progress.
  • Assist the QHSE team in undertaking risk assessments and preparing RAMS as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HNC civil engineering qualification or equivalent working engineering/land surveying or geotechnical experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, CAD, and digital terrain software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to think strategically and to assist in problem-solving.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in office and site environments.
  • Promote a strong Health & Safety culture.
