Sloane Square Hotel is a distinctive boutique property located on the iconic Sloane Square, serving as an ideal base for exploring Chelsea, Knightsbridge, and central London. Featuring elegantly designed, air-conditioned rooms with views of Sloane Square or Holy Trinity Church, the hotel prioritises personal, attentive service. Guests enjoy complimentary internet access, free local and national calls, in-room iPod docking stations, and convenient access to Kings Road shopping, Cadogan Concert Hall, the Royal Court Theatre, and the Saatchi Gallery. With the London Underground across the square, guests can easily reach major attractions like the Natural History Museum, V&A, Buckingham Palace, and Kensington Palace.


The Role

The Head Bartender is a full-time, on-site position responsible for leading bar operations within Sloane Square Hotel. This leadership role requires managing bar staff, maintaining high standards of drink preparation, service, and inventory control, while ensuring compliance with licensing and health & safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bar Leadership & Operations:
    • Train, supervise, and mentor bar team members to deliver exceptional service.
    • Design, update, and maintain drink menus to enhance guest experiences.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ordering supplies, and reducing waste.
    • Ensure adherence to standards of cleanliness, presentation, and food & beverage safety.

  • Guest Experience & Service Excellence:

    • Oversee bar service operations during peak and off-peak hours.
    • Prepare and serve cocktails, wines, and spirits with precision and presentation.
    • Foster a welcoming, professional atmosphere that aligns with the hotel’s high-end brand.
    • Collect and respond to guest feedback, resolving issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Financial & Operational Management:

    • Accurately handle cash and card transactions, including end-of-shift reconciliation.
    • Collaborate with front-of-house and restaurant teams to streamline guest flow and service.
    • Identify revenue opportunities and implement strategies to improve bar profitability and efficiency.
  • Compliance & Team Collaboration:

    • Ensure strict adherence to licensing regulations, responsible alcohol service, and health & safety protocols.
    • Work across cross-functional teams to support the hotel’s broader guest experience goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or lead bartender role in a hotel, high-end bar, or fine-dining establishment.
  • Advanced bartending skills, including cocktail crafting, garnishing, and balancing drink composition.
  • Exceptional customer service with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences and building loyalty.
  • Strong team leadership and ability to motivate and develop bar staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for guest interactions and team coordination.
  • POS system proficiency, accurate cash handling, and experience with end-of-shift reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of responsible alcohol service, licensing laws, and health & safety standards.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
