Head Chef
Head Chef – Swindon (Polaris House)
Location: Polaris House, North Star Avenue, Swindon, SN2 1ET
Salary: £31,900 per annum
Hours: Permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday (07:00–15:30). No weekends.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Head Chef to join our team and help create a welcoming space for our customers. As Head Chef, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. You will lead and support a small team, including a Commis Chef and Kitchen Porter, while ensuring high-quality meals are prepared in line with OpX standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Head Chef will have full responsibility for managing Kitchen Operations, including:
- Full management of kitchen operations, leveraging the company’s Menu Planning and Stock Management tools (OpX).
- Budget planning to meet KPIs for revenue and gross profit (GP).
- Planning seasonal menu cycles.
- Projecting production requirements based on demand.
- Conducting weekly orders and managing waste levels within targets.
- Overseeing all deliveries, including temperature checks.
- Completing Opening and Closing Checks.
- Supporting the Manager Roles with administrative tasks when needed (e.g., managing absences).

Key Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Catering
- Level 3 Food Safety qualification
- Allergen Management training
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) training
- 3 years’ experience at Head Chef level
- IT proficiency and experience with:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
