Head Housekeeper

Location: Chelsea & Belgravia, London Contract: Full-time, Live-out Salary: £70,000 approx (negotiable for exceptional candidate) Start date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding Head Housekeeper to manage a team of housekeepers in a UHNW family’s properties in Chelsea and Belgravia, spanning 1 office + 4 residences (all walkable).

This is a key leadership position within their growing Family Office structure requiring exceptional private household expertise, impeccable standards and the ability to lead effectively. Responsibilities include overseeing housekeeping across multiple properties while maintaining flawless organisation and presentation.

The role demands strong private household experience, leadership ability, excellent communication, discretion, and administrative proficiency. A polished, confident and calm demeanour is essential.


Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, motivate, and support the housekeeping team
  • Train new staff on household standards, cleaning techniques, service expectations, and SOPs
  • Enforce consistency across all properties
  • Conduct spot checks and quality control inspections, providing constructive feedback
  • Collaborate on SOPs, checklists, inventories, and team training materials

Scheduling & Administration

  • Create and manage fair, efficient staff rotas
  • Coordinate coverage across all properties based on household needs
  • Manage holiday requests, time-in-lieu, and shift adjustments
  • Maintain supplies stock control and place orders
  • Liaise with the Family Office on maintenance and operational needs
  • Ensure accurate records keeping and clear handovers

Hands-On Housekeeping & Service

  • Work alongside the team as needed, setting the standard
  • Perform deep cleaning, organisation, and high-level housekeeping duties
  • Preserve immaculate presentation across all household spaces
  • Handle luxury finishes, artwork, antiques, and fine materials with care

Professional Conduct

  • Adhere to absolute discretion and confidentiality (NDA mandatory)
  • Present a polished, professional, and composed demeanour at all times

Schedule & Working Conditions

  • 5 days/week, up to 45 hours
  • Early, late, and weekend shifts on rotation
  • Two consecutive days off per week (may shift to midweek on rotations)
  • Rotas released 2+ weeks in advance
  • All properties walkable; Ubers provided for inter-property transfers (10pm+ finishing)

Note: Flexibility is essential per household requirements (e.g., high demands, schedule changes).

  • Uniform provided, must be maintained to the utmost standards
  • Immaculate grooming, appearance, and professionalism required

Work Environment

  • UHNW private households with exceptionally high standards
  • Collaborating with professional housekeepers across multiple residences
  • One property may currently house a small dog (not a working animal)

Interview & Trial Process

  1. First interview (in-person; video option available if required)
  2. Paid trial shift to assess leadership capability, housekeeping standards, and team fit
  3. Offer subject to references and NDA signing

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Housekeeper or senior private household executive (UHNW sector)
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to train, guide, and motivate a team
  • Proficiency in scheduling, rota planning, and household administration
  • Exceptional housekeeping and garment care expertise
  • Capacity to maintain and enforce standards across multiple properties
  • Ideally: Experience from a 5-star hotel housekeeping department (not essential)
  • Discretion, reliability, professionalism, and teamwork mentality paramount
  • Stay calm under pressure, adaptable, and solution-focused
