Head of Acquisitions

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Acquisitions to lead the delivery of M&S's property acquisitions strategy. Reporting to the Property Director, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and securing new store opportunities that support our long-term growth ambitions across both Full Line and Food formats.

Leading a team of Acquisitions Managers, you will build and manage a strong pipeline of new store, relocation and renewal opportunities. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will ensure M&S continues to secure the right space in the right locations, balancing customer reach, commercial return and strategic fit.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and deliver the acquisitions strategy to support M&S's store rotation programme, growth plans and future estate ambitions.
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritise new store opportunities using customer, demographic, competitor and commercial insights.
  • Lead negotiations with landlords, developers, agents and partners to secure optimal commercial outcomes and minimise risk.
  • Own the end-to-end acquisitions process, from opportunity identification through to approvals and handover into delivery.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing acquisitions team, ensuring a disciplined and commercially focused approach to pipeline management.

Who You Will Be

  • An experienced retail property professional with a strong track record in acquisitions, asset growth and portfolio development.
  • A strategic thinker who can translate long-term business objectives into a clear and actionable property pipeline.
  • A confident negotiator with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to balance customer, financial and operational considerations when making decisions.
  • An inspiring leader who develops talent, drives accountability and creates high-performing teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
