Head of Advice / Senior Financial Adviser

Location: Marlow - Hybrid
Salary: £80,000–£100,000 + Annual Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chartered Financial Planner to join a well-established and growing financial planning business as Head of Advice.

This is a unique role combining people leadership with client-facing financial planning, offering the chance to shape and develop a high-performing advice team while continuing to advise high-net-worth clients.

The Role

This is a 50/50 strategic and advisory position, reporting directly to the Growth Director.

  • Initially, you will manage a team of 4–5 Chartered Financial Advisers, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and development of the core advice team while maintaining your own portfolio of clients.
  • You will inherit an existing client bank while also supporting new business generation through seminars, networking and professional introducer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 4–5 Chartered Financial Advisers
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and quarterly PDPs
  • Set weekly objectives and oversee adviser performance and development
  • Mentor advisers and support career progression across varying experience levels
  • Help develop advisers and technical staff, including paraplanners progressing into advice
  • Provide holistic financial planning advice to high-net-worth clients
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Generate new business through networking, referrals and seminar activity
  • Ensure high standards of technical excellence and FCA compliance
  • Work closely with senior management to support the continued growth of the advice function

Client Base

  • Typical client assets: £500,000+
  • Average client AUM: £3m–£5m
  • Senior advisers typically advise on £5m–£15m client portfolios
  • High-net-worth clients are supported through dedicated pod structures

Support Structure

You'll be fully supported to focus on delivering high-quality advice, including:

  • Dedicated Paraplanner
  • Dedicated Administrator
  • Established pod structure for complex, high-net-worth clients
  • Shared central paraplanning and administration support for the wider advice team

About You

  • Chartered Financial Planner (preferred)
  • Proven experience providing holistic financial planning advice
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or developing advisers
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
  • Passion for developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement and tax planning
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills

Salary & Benefits

  • £80,000–£100,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
  • Annual discretionary performance bonus (typically 10%)

  • 5% employer pension contribution (employees may contribute more)
