Job Description
At NEC Software Solutions we stay on the cusp of innovation – we already use AI in parts of the business and across our product portfolio. This role is about scaling and making AI easier, safer and more effective to use across the organisation.

You’ll lead a central AI function that brings together strategy, tools, and delivery. The focus is on helping teams use AI in practice; both internally and in our products that support the public sector, making sure it delivers real value.

This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer, the ideal candidate will be Hybrid Office based (50%) from Bracknell, Hemel Hempstead or Chippenham.

Key responsibilities

Set direction

  • Own the enterprise AI strategy.
  • Identify where AI can add the most value.
  • Help prioritise investment and focus.

Build the capability

  • Set up and lead a central AI team.
  • Provide shared platforms, tools and support.
  • Enable teams to design, build and scale AI solutions.

Support products and operations

  • Work with product teams to embed AI into roadmaps.
  • Help deliver AI-enabled features.
  • Drive adoption in internal processes.

Standards and governance

  • Define practical standards and guardrails.
  • Work with security, data protection and ethics teams to ensure safe, secure and compliant use of AI.

Adoption and change

  • Lead all future AI rollouts across the business.
  • Develop and deliver training and support across all functions.
  • Build a network of AI champions

Delivery and value

  • Run pilots and take successful ideas into production
  • Track adoption and business impact
  • Ensure AI delivers measurable outcomes

Qualifications

Experience

  • Leading AI or advanced technology teams
  • Delivering AI solutions from concept to production
  • Working with platforms and product teams

Leadership

  • Able to influence at senior level
  • Commercially focused and delivery-oriented
  • Comfortable working across technical and business teams

Technical understanding

  • Solid understanding of applied AI/ML
  • Experience integrating AI into products or systems
  • Familiar with modern AI tools and platforms

Desirable

  • Regulated industry experience
  • Governance or risk frameworks
  • Multi-business unit environment
