The Role Head of Applied AI, UK sits within the UK Data and Analytics function reporting to the Chief Data and Analytics Office, UK. Data and analytics is a key enabler of the UK Business strategy and this role is accountable for scaled AI adoption across the UK. You’ll set and execute the UK AI strategy aligned with Group and oversee delivery of AI products and reusable capabilities for UK value streams. You’ll run the UK data scientist chapter to build a world-class team and embed consistent standards across AI delivery. You’ll work across Group, Risk, Technology and the wider UK business to align priorities and reuse existing platforms where possible. Success means AI use cases progress safely from idea to production with clear governance and measurable business outcomes alongside stronger AI literacy across the organisation. What you'll be doing Deliver and execute the UK AI strategy aligned with Group priorities to scale AI adoption Establish standards and frameworks for AI delivery and monitor adherence across the UK portfolio Manage the UK data scientist chapter and develop a high-performing data science capability Partner with Group, Risk, Technology and other teams to align delivery and reuse solutions such as the Group AI Platform Engage stakeholders across the UK Business and Value Streams to shape demand and set clear expectations Maintain the UK inventory of AI use cases including what the UK builds and leverages Govern the path-to-production process and provide input to ERM on AI risks Build reusable AI solutions, products and capabilities that accelerate delivery across UK teams Advance AI literacy across the UK through education, engagement and clear communication of benefits Partner with academia and industry bodies to explore new techniques and strengthen HSBC’s AI thought leadership What we're looking for Bring proven experience developing and rolling out analytics, AI and machine learning solutions at scale Demonstrate deep knowledge of data science methods including prototyping, experimentation, research and data analytics Apply strong machine learning capability across areas such as forecasting, classification, clustering, NLP, deep learning and unstructured data Build and use data models to predict, forecast and simulate scenarios using multiple variables Write production-quality code for advanced analytics and data methods Navigate the UK AI landscape including awareness of relevant regulations and expectations Manage senior stakeholders across multiple teams and geographies with clear communication and pragmatic decision-making Collaborate effectively across a large global organisation preferably within Data, Analytics or IT functions Operate governance processes for taking AI solutions into production including risk and control considerations Scaling Applied AI in the UK This role is an opportunity to turn AI strategy into practical adoption across a major UK business in a regulated environment. You’ll shape how AI products are delivered, governed and reused so teams can move from experiments to production with confidence. You’ll also build capability through a strong data scientist chapter and wider AI literacy across the organisation.
