Head of Artificial Intelligence
AI Team Lead Remote | ~£120,000 | Flexible hours Location: UK or Europe
About the Company
My client is a specialist services firm focused on DevOps, Data, and AI, holding one of only the top 4% off all AWS Premier Partner designations.
Originally a DevOps-focused business, it has since expanded into Data and AI, currently comprising ~80 employees globally. Self-funded (not VC-backed), they prioritise expertise and disciplined growth over rapid headcount expansion. Their vision is to become one of the top 5 service providers in their sector within five years.
Tackling complex, unsolved AI agentic challenges for clients that couldn’t resolve them internally, they are hiring an AI Team Lead to spearhead this work and cultivate the dedicated team.
About the Role
This hands-on leadership position demands someone comfortable driving innovation from the front. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) tailored to client needs, selecting optimal architectures over rigid one-size-fits-all approaches.
- Building a team of AI Engineers, maintaining rigorous technical standards while fostering growth.
- Mentoring and hiring as the team scales, ensuring skilled recruitment.
- Architecting memory & context systems (user preferences, semantic recall, sliding attentional windows) for long-term agent coherence.
- Establishing safety, reliability, and performance benchmarks for production deployments.
- Bridging technical gaps for clients, translating complex requirements into robust AI systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
