About the role
At Hammersmith and Fulham, we are ambitious in reforming the council to ensure this is a place for everybody. Within the Economy department, we aim to be efficient in everything that we do. We believe our residents deserve a place that is safe, clean and green, with high quality services they can rely on.
Hammersmith & Fulham is ambitious for its residents and determined to deliver excellent housing services that are safe, responsive and shaped with local people. We are looking for an exceptional leader to join us as the Head of Asset Management & Compliance taking a pivotal role in improving outcomes for residents and leading a high-profile service at the heart of our Housing and Neighbourhoods department.
You will lead an asset management team delivering on stock condition surveys, decent home projections, investment opportunities and efficiency analysis including appropriate forecasting so that the LBHF asset management strategy can be delivered. Working across internal and external providers to ensure homes are well maintained, investment is targeted effectively, contracts perform strongly.
We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with visible, credible leadership. You will be able to lead through change, build strong relationships with Members, residents, contractors and partners, and create a culture that is focused on accountability, performance and resident satisfaction. You will bring experience of delivering asset management in a complex housing environment, alongside strong commercial, financial and contract management skills, and a clear understanding of the legislative and regulatory context for housing repairs and asset services.
At Hammersmith & Fulham, we do things with residents, not to them. That commitment sits at the heart of this role. You will help shape services that reflect resident priorities, support our wider ambitions around sustainability and value for money, and contribute to a council that is striving to be the best in the country. If you are motivated by public service, passionate about housing, and ready to make a visible difference in a borough with high ambition and strong values, we would love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
