Head of Away From Home (AFH)

Role Summary

As Head of Away From Home (AFH), you will lead the strategy and growth of our non-retail channel, spanning healthcare, facilities management, hospitality and broader out-of-home markets.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing commercial plans
  • Managing key strategic accounts
  • Securing new business
  • Negotiating contracts

Working closely with sales, marketing, category, R&D, supply chain, and operations, you will ensure product, pricing, and service excellence.

Additionally, you will:

  • Lead and develop a small team
  • Track performance against KPIs
  • Represent TSL in customer engagements and industry forums

You will propel the growth of TSL’s Continence and Absorbent category across a defined customer portfolio, owning the:

  • Commercial strategy
  • Driving new business
  • Expanding existing accounts
  • Delivering sustainable, profitable growth

Full-time, hybrid role. Office-based in Wakefield 3 days per week.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the AFH growth strategy, aligned to wider business objectives
  • Own the channel P&L, including:
    • Budget delivery
    • Forecasting
    • Performance tracking
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while driving range expansion within existing accounts
  • Build and lead the AFH team, evolving capability in line with channel growth
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure best-in-class execution and customer delivery
  • Lead value engineering and product development initiatives, working closely with procurement and technical teams
  • Act as the category expert, confidently presenting:
    • Product construction
    • Performance
    • Benefits
    • Customers
  • Use market data, insights, and customer feedback to shape strategy and strengthen propositions
  • Represent TSL Healthcare at:
    • Customer meetings
    • Industry events
    • Trade shows

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • 5–10 years’ proven sales experience, with a strong track record in:
    • New business development
    • Key account growth
  • Experience working with large UK distribution groups (e.g., EVO, Bunzl, PHS, Lyreco, Jangro, NHS)
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to:
    • Own and manage P&L performance independently
  • Experience leading or developing teams within a growing channel
  • Confident in:
    • Managing complex tenders
    • Translating detail into clear commercial actions
  • Advanced Excel and strong data analysis capability
