We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Head of Bid Management to join our growing Energy team, supporting the delivery of a portfolio of high-value infrastructure schemes.
This is a high-profile role within a fast-paced business unit, offering the opportunity to influence strategic opportunities and collaborate closely with senior leaders and key clients, including National Grid.

Role Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and coordination across all pre-contract activities, including bidding, ECI and early delivery phases.
- Lead the Bid Management function across key Energy sector accounts, ensuring consistency and best practice.
- Oversee the development and submission of high-quality, winning bids aligned to business strategy and win themes.
- Manage and support a central work-winning team, driving performance across multiple concurrent bids.
- Build strong relationships with strategic clients (e.g. National Grid), senior stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Develop innovative bid strategies and clearly define commercial positions on key opportunities.
- Create and manage bid programmes, resource plans, and budgets.
- Maintain oversight of the opportunity pipeline to inform senior management decision making.
- Coordinate risk and opportunity capture across all bids.
- Lead governance and internal approval processes, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
- Support early contractor involvement stages and guide teams through to successful bid conversion.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring multiple workstreams progress to deadlines.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Extensive experience in pre-contract, bidding, or work-winning roles within the built environment
- Strong background in the Energy sector (e.g. OHL, cabling, substations desirable)
- Experience working within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage teams across multiple locations and bids.
- Strong stakeholder management experience, including strategic client relationships.
- Commercially astute with the ability to shape winning bid strategies.
- Solid understanding of risk management, governance and bid approval processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Degree or professional background in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
- Professional membership (e.g. ICE, IMechE) desirable
- Strong IT skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to drive performance in a fast-paced environment.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
