About the Role
We’re looking for a Head of Bids to lead and evolve our bids function as a key driver of commercial success.
This is a senior leadership role where you’ll:
- Set the direction for our bids approach
- Lead and develop the team
- Improve how we convert opportunities into revenue
- Work closely with partners and senior stakeholders to ensure the function adds value and supports the pensions market effectively
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Group, you’ll also collaborate with the Head of New Business and business unit leaders.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll balance strategic leadership with day-to-day operational delivery, focusing on:
- Shaping our bids approach and improving processes
- Ensuring high-quality proposals and pitches
- Building and leading a high-performing, inclusive team
- Aligning bids strategy with commercial priorities and growth plans
- Managing clear governance across the bid lifecycle (pipeline through to submission and pitch)
- Optimising effort on high-impact opportunities and decision-making
- Partnering with client teams and stakeholders on client-focused proposals
- Developing strong value propositions, messaging, and submissions
- Acting as a trusted commercial adviser to senior stakeholders
- Supporting continuous improvement through performance insights
- Exploring new ways of working, including data, technology, AI, and tools

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience leading bids or proposals in a professional services environment
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic decision-making
- Ability to connect bid activity to wider business goals
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on clarity and quality
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style
- Good commercial awareness and sound judgement
- An eagerness to improve processes, including adoption of data, AI, and technology
