This is a brand built on community, energy, and genuine athletic ambition — and the Head of Brand is the person who ensures that we bring this to life every single day consistently, coherently, and highly effectively.


The Opportunity

This is a key role in building both the ATHX brand and business with real creative ownership.

As Head of Brand, you will:

  • Own the ATHX brand marketing function — social channels, earned media, content output, influencer programme, and community — providing the day-to-day heartbeat of the brand.
  • Lead and develop a team of talented marketeers, creatives, and channel managers, working closely with the CMO to ensure everything aligns strategically and commercially.
  • Become the focal point for ensuring ATHX feels alive in all brand touchpoints — online, offline, and through event experiences.
  • Develop engagement, drive deep loyalty, create repeating habits, and build an army of advocates.
  • Foster a deep understanding of what makes great content perform, how it moves audiences, and how to lead, stimulate, and get the best out of creative teams.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Identity & Guardianship

  • Act as the day-to-day guardian of the ATHX brand, ensuring all content, campaigns, and communications align with the brand’s visual identity, tone of voice, and values.
  • Create and maintain brand guidelines, keeping them current and ensuring they are applied consistently across teams, agencies, and partners.
  • Collaborate with the CMO to evolve the brand with market growth — balancing core identity with localized adaptations where needed.
  • Champion brand consistency across all touchpoints, from event day signage, athlete communications, social media, and partner-facing materials.
  • Bring the ATHX brand to life in an authentic, energetic, and aspirational way to resonate with the athlete community.

Social Media

  • Develop and own the strategy for all ATHX social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), including emerging platforms relevant to the audience.
  • Manage the social content calendar, delivering high-quality, on-brand content consistently across all channels.
  • Monitor performance metrics, report on key insights, and use data-driven optimisation to refine strategy.
  • Stay ahead of platform trends and algorithm changes, bringing innovative formats to position ATHX at the forefront of sports marketing.

Content Strategy & Production

  • Lead the ATHX content strategy, balancing content types, formats, and storytelling to capture brand energy and drive community growth.
  • Oversee the Content Creator team, ensuring compelling event coverage, athlete stories, training content, and campaign assets are produced.
  • Ensure content is high-quality, on-brand, and platform-optimised.
  • Collaborate with the event delivery team, planning and capturing content from European and UK events.

PR

  • Develop, lead, and own the strategy for earned media/PR efforts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with publications and journalists for positive coverage.
  • Secure a consistent cadence of on-brand, high-quality coverage across outlets.
  • Monitor performance, report insights, and adapt the strategy for maximum impact.

Experiential

  • Develop and own the strategy for ATHX experiential activities.
  • Ensure seamless execution of highly engaging and impactful experiences.
  • Leverage performance data to refine and scale initiatives.

Influencer & Ambassador Programme

  • Own the end-to-end influencer and athlete ambassador strategy.
  • Identify relationships with athletes, fitness creators, and influencers who authentically represent ATHX.
  • Create ambassador briefs, content guidelines, and activation plans, driving honest reach and engagement.
  • Track and report on influencer performance, delivering measurable value.

Community Building & Engagement

  • Grow and nurture the ATHX athlete community across social platforms.
  • Transform competitors into advocates and advocates into ambassadors through interactive content, spotlights, challenges, and campaigns.
  • Work with the Head of CRM to align social and email marketing for unified messaging.

Campaign Execution

  • Lead the execution of all marketing campaigns from strategy through to activation, adhering to timelines, budgets, and brand consistency.
  • Guide the Marketing team in creative and targeting alignment.
  • Manage commercial partnerships, ensuring authentic campaign activations across owned channels.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop an initially established team including: Social Media Manager, Marketing Manager, and two Content Creators.
  • Set clear objectives, offer regular feedback, and foster an environment where creativity and accountability thrive.
  • Champion hands-on leadership, rolling up sleeves when needed for content creation, copywriting, or channel management.

Who We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Proven senior Brand Marketing experience, preferably within sport, fitness, events, or consumer lifestyle brands.
  • Track record of creating category-defining brands through strategic foresight and meticulous execution.
  • Deep knowledge of social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), including content strategy, community management, and performance tracking.
  • Strong creative instincts, capazle of briefing, directing, and delivering winning ideas.
  • Experience managing influencer relationships and ambassador programs.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor marketing teams.
  • Data-literate, proficient in using analytics for decisions and reporting.
  • Exceptionally organised, with strong project management skills to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines on a busy schedule.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within functional fitness, endurance sports, or mass-participation events.
  • Work on campaigns with major brand partners.
  • Familiarity with paid social advertising.
