Lead and Grow a High Potential Building Surveying Team

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Surveying leader to join a leading global real estate consultancy as Head of Building Surveying in Birmingham.

This is a genuine leadership appointment, offering the opportunity to shape and grow an established Building Surveying team. Currently managing a team of two, you will play a key role in expanding the division significantly over the next two years, driving both revenue growth and market presence across the Midlands.

The role offers an excellent blend of leadership, client development, professional surveying and project delivery, making it ideal for someone who enjoys remaining technically involved whilst building and leading a successful team.

The Role

As Head of Building Surveying, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Birmingham Building Surveying team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing the existing Building Surveying team.
  • Growing the team through recruitment and business development.
  • Developing new and existing client relationships across the Midlands.
  • Winning and delivering instructions across both professional and project work.
  • Providing strategic advice to a diverse range of investor, landlord, occupier and developer clients.
  • Delivering professional Building Surveying services including:
    • Dilapidations
    • Technical Due Diligence
    • Building Surveys
    • Defect Diagnosis
    • Planned Preventative Maintenance
    • Schedules of Condition
    • Reinstatement Cost Assessments
    • Party Wall matters
  • Leading and delivering a range of refurbishment, fit out and capital projects from inception through to completion.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Project Management, Agency, Valuation and Capital Markets to maximise opportunities.
  • Taking responsibility for financial performance, fee generation and team profitability.
  • Supporting the wider Midlands leadership team in delivering the business growth strategy.

About You

You will be an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor who enjoys combining leadership with fee earning responsibilities.

You'll ideally possess:

  • MRICS qualified.
  • Significant Building Surveying experience within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong experience across both professional Building Surveying and Project Management.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring Building Surveyors.
  • A proven track record of winning new business and developing long term client relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing fees and project profitability.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ambition to build and grow a high performing regional team.
