Role within the CEO Function. The Strategy and Business Office function at Aston Martin Lagonda (AML) is responsible for Corporate Strategy, Product Strategy, Regulatory Engagement Strategy and Government affairs, Fleet CO2 and Credit Trades and Delivery, and Business Transformation.
Job purpose
Develop a framework of external data sources and the ongoing interpretation to drive Aston Martin strategy development. Embed a consistent approach (content and timing) using PESTLE analysis to drive an understanding of luxury market trends (automotive and non-automotive), demographic trends across the regions, economic factors etc. Work closely with the Executive Committee to lead, inform and shape the AML business strategy and product considerations.
Operate in a leadership role to develop the cross functional strategy for, and definition / implementation of AML connected car services for our next generation of cars, effectively operating as “VLD / business unit owner” for software enabled vehicle functions.
Identify potential and develop new revenue streams for the company and assess leverage opportunities with 3rd party associations from anonymized driver and vehicle data.
The role will work closely with our external technology partners and the AML IT, Product Marketing and Engineering teams to ensure both the vehicle and customer data is managed from the production line through the ownership cycle(s) to end of life of the car.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop sources of data to enable analytics (e.g. PESTLE) and a reporting structure that underpins the development of AML strategy with the Executive Committee
- Lead Ex Co workshops on topics relevant to AML strategy and ensure these are embedded within the annual business planning process.
- Develop materials to support the cascade of the external analytics to all stakeholders and lead deployment into functions through the Annual Planning process
- Lead the cross functional development, with the Product Marketing Team and Vehicle Engineering Attribute owner, and definition of digitally enabled AML core and USP features and services for the next generation of cars
- Derive ownership/usage insights to steer future product plans
- Develop the “digital twin” lifecycle plans for the car and for (multiple) customer ownership cycles, as a parallel activity stream to the physical vehicle lifecycles
- Lead the creation of required governance frameworks and for the technical delivery process / release criteria for connected car features and services into markets
- Develop, agree with the executive committee and maintain a connected car business plan
- Lead and govern the content planning process and establish appropriate links to Product Committee and Revenue Committee

Experience and qualifications
Essential experience
- Extensive experience and proven track record of strategy development and implementation, and the sourcing and use of external data
- High level of business acumen and financial literacy with an ability to evidence the link between strategy and shareholder value creation
- Experience with Product Governance and Business Planning processes
- Understanding of digital services execution and data management
- Expert Project management experience
- Experience of both leading and supporting Business Planning processes
- A thorough understanding of the impact of environmental & sustainability compliance on the auto industry.
- Proven experience of interfacing with internal and external subject matter experts
- Strong understanding of data analytics, data privacy regulations, and data sharing
- Knowledge of the HLS brands, products, competitors, and positioning
