We're looking for a strategic and commercially focused Head of Business Development to lead growth across our Private Client Group (PCG).

This is a high-profile leadership role, partnering closely with the PCG Managing Partner and senior leadership team to drive client growth, strengthen intermediary relationships, and deliver measurable revenue outcomes. As part of the Business Development & Marketing Senior Leadership Team, you'll work collaboratively across BD, Marketing, Digital and Operations functions to ensure commercial opportunities are converted into sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Commercial Growth

  • Develop and deliver the business development strategy for the Private Client Group.
  • Identify market opportunities and translate them into a strong pipeline of activity and opportunities.
  • Focus on growing relationships with key clients, intermediaries and referral sources.
  • Support partners in developing commercially focused client strategies that deliver results.

Pipeline Management and Revenue Generation

  • Lead the development and conversion of opportunities across client and intermediary channels.
  • Drive strategic pursuits and high-value opportunities from identification through to conversion.
  • Ensure a strong focus on measurable outcomes, pipeline progression and revenue growth.

Market and Intermediary Development

  • Build and strengthen relationships across the private wealth market, including private banks, wealth managers, family offices and professional advisers.
  • Enhance referral networks and identify new routes to market.
  • Represent Irwin Mitchell externally and increase the firm's visibility within key networks.

Partnering with Marketing

  • Work closely with Marketing and Go-to-Market teams to align commercial priorities with campaigns and market activity.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives, content and events support business development objectives and generate opportunities.
  • Provide market and client insight to shape future campaigns and activity.

Performance and Insight

  • Utilise CRM data and performance reporting to inform decision-making and prioritisation.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, identify growth opportunities and drive accountability.
  • Foster a data-led approach to business development across the team.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Business Development team.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration and commercial focus.
  • Ensure resources are prioritised effectively to maximise impact and growth.

We're looking for an experienced business development leader with a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record of driving growth within professional services.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in Business Development, ideally within private wealth, professional services or a related sector.
  • A track record of delivering pipeline growth and revenue generation.
  • Strong understanding of the private wealth intermediary market and relationship-led business development.
  • Experience operating in a complex stakeholder environment and influencing senior leaders.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and team development skills.
  • Strong commercial judgement and a results-focused approach.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Exposure to private wealth markets and intermediary networks.
  • Experience leading teams through organisational change or transformation.
