Head of Business Governance and Operations - Health and Talent ABS
Operations Leader (UK) – Health and Talent
Location: Hybrid (remote and London HQ) Company: Aon | "Aon is in the business of better decisions"
The UK Operations Leader leads the Operations strategy for Aon’s Health and Talent businesses, delivering scalable, resilient operations that achieve cost discipline, risk management, and strong client outcomes. As part of the Leadership Team, this role requires executive presence, strategic acumen, and strong operational expertise.
About the Role
You will:
- Own and execute the Operations strategy, aligning client outcomes, cost efficiency, and risk mitigation with Health and Talent business goals.
- Balance hybrid remote and in-office work with a focus on UK/EMEA operations.
- Shape decisions for the better, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture at Aon.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Direction
- Set strategic direction for Health and Talent Business Governance and Operations, aligning with AON, Solution Lines, ABS, and regulatory requirements.
- Translate governance and operations strategy into measurable outcomes via a delivery roadmap, ensuring accountability and alignment with overarching business plans.
- Act as a thought partner to senior leadership on governance, compliance, and operations.
Governance & Control
- Own and maintain robust governance frameworks, covering decision-making, audit, risk, compliance, and internal controls.
- Ensure consistency, clarity, and accountability across business forums, policies, and processes.
- Collaborate with Solution Line and ABS leaders to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

Operational Excellence & Efficiency
- Drive process standardisation, simplification, and automation to improve productivity.
- Build scalable, resilient operations that can support sustainable growth.
Financial Management
- Lead the annual budget and multi-year financial planning for Business Governance and Operations, tailored to strategic priorities.
- Maintain accurate forecasting, prioritising risk and opportunity identification.
MI & Reporting
- Define KPIs and MI to track performance, risk, and progress. -Provide timely, accurate, decision-ready insights to leadership.
- Optimise operations through data-driven continuous improvement.
People Leadership
- Lead and inspire a high-performance culture, setting clear expectations and priorities.
- Oversee organisational design, capacity planning, and talent succession, ensuring the right skills meet Business Governance and Operations needs.
- Drive performance management and targeted upskilling aligned with strategy.
- Participate in collective decision-making, upholding enterprise-wide priorities.
Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong expertise in business governance and operations within regulated industries (professional, financial, health services).
- Deep knowledge of governance frameworks, including risk, compliance, audit, and internal controls.
- Proven financial expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Understands operational excellence principles (standardisation, simplification, automation).
- Experience defining and leveraging MI, KPIs, and reporting for executive decision-making.
- Familiarity with organisational design, workforce planning, and succession strategies.
