Head of Business Intelligence
Location: Wirral Metropolitan College Salary: £55,001 per annum Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time, permanent Start Date: Interviews scheduled for Monday 20th July 2026

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus: Drive the strategic planning, integration, and optimisation of business intelligence in support of Wirral Metropolitan College’s operations and growth.
Stakeholder & Leadership Leadership Roles
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, delivering expert insights into technology investments and information systems to enhance decision-making and efficiency.
- Oversee the alignment of systems and data solutions with College wide business objectives.
Systems & Data Governance
- Plan, implement, and integrate new technologies and systems across the college, ensuring seamless adoption and minimum disruption.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of reporting solutions—guaranteeing data accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Protect and grow the College's data estate, including analytics, data warehousing, and governance frameworks.
- Systems engineering: Experience in implementing third-party technologies via SQL/API integration with existing college infrastructure.

Team & Stakeholder Development
- Develop and mentor the Business Intelligence team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and performance excellence.
- Empower wide stakeholders (college departments, procurement, finance, HR, etc.) to make data-driven decisions and leverage available systems effectively.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
Academic & Functional Integration Requirements
- Level 3 Qualification in IT, Computer Science, or Digital Support (or equivalent experience).
- English/Numeracy exemption certified at Level 2 or higher.
Core Competencies
- Expertise in data processing: Proven ability to extract, manipulate, and analyse multiple data sources across varied contexts.
- Clear communication: Excellent skills in translating technical insights into actionable visualisations and reports.
- Stakeholder engagement: Consistently leads successful system strategies and(systems introduction) within fast-moving organisational landscapes.
- Analytical Breadth: Hands-on experience implementing third-party systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, databases) with legacy infrastructure. (Adequate SQL and API knowledge is essential.)
