Senior Capital Analyst – London Market Insurer
Arthur is partnering with a London Market insurer seeking a commercially-focused capital professional who adds value through business decision support rather than purely regulatory reporting. This role is ideal for someone keen to apply technical expertise to practical business challenges, collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation.
About the Role
This position involves supporting business planning through capital allocation, portfolio analytics, and risk assessment.
Responsibilities
- Support business planning via capital allocation, portfolio analytics, and risk assessment
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to analyse:
- Portfolio volatility and provide actionable insights for portfolio optimisation and pricing
- Own and develop analytical frameworks for Group and local capital allocation
- Build and maintain data-driven tools that translate capital model outputs into business-focused insights
- Communicate results to stakeholders across the business, including:
- SCR forecasts and their implications for capital/dividend planning
- Lead annual Group Capital Model updates
- Evaluate capital impact of:
- Business growth
- Portfolio changes
- Strategic initiatives
- Conduct stress testing and capital recovery analysis to assess adverse-scenario impacts

Additional duties:
- Strategic decision-support via capital analytics, including:
- Corporate reinsurance programmes
- Capital optimisation projects
- Other business transactions
Qualifications
Experience must reflect strong technical and actuarial expertise, ideally with calendar business accountability (Associated Responsible Officer granted post-interviews).

- Certified actuary or equivalent experience, with:
- ≥ 10 years in capital modelling or a similar actuarial role
- Proven commercial mindset putting technical skills to work
- Proficiency in technical capital modelling
- Hands-on experience with:
- Capital allocation
- Portfolio optimisation
- Business planning
- Ability to:
- Translate complex capital concepts for non-technical decision-makers
- Strategic decision-making through capital models
- Familiarity with Solvency II frameworks (preferable)
Note: Prior exposure to Igloo is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Transitioning from regulatory focus: Ideal for professionals who wish to adopt a broader, commercially oriented role with exposure to:
- Underwriting strategies
- Business operations
