About the Role: Head of Care
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Rookwood Residential Home in Burgess Hill. In this critical role, you will:
- Support the Manager in ensuring the safe and effective running of the care home, in compliance with regulation, legislation, and policy.
- Organise and supervise the day-to-day operations of the care team to deliver dignified, respectful, and high-standard care for all service users.
- Build and develop the care team through mentoring, supervision, and competency assessment. Escalate any concerns to the Manager and Regional Operations Manager promptly. Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Manager to enforce regulatory compliance, ensuring the care home operates safely and effectively.
- Oversee the organisation and supervision of the care team to maintain high standards of dignity, respect, and care.
- Mentor, supervise, and assess competencies of staff, fostering a skilled and motivated team.
- Create and update care plans to ensure personalised support for residents.
- Strengthen relationships with families, keeping them informed about any changes in their loved one’s physical and emotional well-being.
- Manage medication by organising ordering, receiving, and returning, working closely with senior staff, pharmacies, and GP surgeries in case of adjustments, errors, or missing supplies.
- Ensure staff are competently trained in medication administration for both new and existing team members.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in the care sector.
- Social Care Diploma or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Experience in ordering and administering medication.
- Strong background in creating and updating care plans.
- Kind, empathetic, and proactive approach to resident care.
- Commitment to excellence and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
- Ability to contribute positively in a team-oriented environment.

Package
- £15.22 per hour (Weekdays) / £15.98 per hour (Weekends)
