About the Role: Head of Care
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Rookwood Residential Home in Burgess Hill.
As Head of Care, you will:
*Support the Home Manager in ensuring the safe, effective running of the care home, adhering to regulation, legislation, and our policies.
*Take responsibility for organising the care team’s day-to-day operations, ensuring residents receive their care with dignity and respect while achieving consistently high standards.
- Mentor, supervise, and develop the care team, assessing competency where needed, and escalating any concerns to the Home Manager and Regional Operations Manager.
---### Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Home Manager to uphold legal, regulatory, and policy standards in care delivery
- Supervising the care team to ensure 24/7 excellence in resident welfare, maintaining adherence to care plans and best practice
- Shaping team growth: offering mentorship, training, and performance assessments to foster a skilled and motivated workforce
- Collaborating with relatives & families to communicate effectively about residents’ progress, adapting care plans as needed
- Medication management:
- Co-ordinating ordering, supply, and admin of medications in partnership with senior staff
- Medication training: ensuring new and existing staff are DBS-checked and competent in medication administration
- Liaising with endoscopy, pharmacists, and GPs on medication-related issues (e.g. changes, errors, or stock discrepancies)

Hours: Part-time (27 hours per week) – to be confirmed post-interview
Requirements & Qualities
Essential
- Proven leadership experience in a care environment
- Social Care Diploma or *NVQ Level 3 equivalent
- Experience in medication administration and ordering processes
- Care plan development experience
