What You'll Do

You'll need to be based within commutable distance of Northampton or Bridgwater. This role will require regular nationwide travel.

Toolstation is one of the UK’s fastest-growing retailers for a reason: we keep it simple. As we grow, we need to keep things running smoothly, and that’s where you come in.

This role is the engine room of our retail estate. You’ll manage a multi-million pound budget and lead a multi-disciplinary team that acts as the backbone for our stores—from the Contact Centre to Retail Support and our biggest transformation projects. Your job is to make sure our store teams have exactly what they need, when they need it, so they can keep doing what they do best: helping our customers.

You’ll be our gatekeeper, filtering Head Office noise so our store colleagues can stay focused on the customer. You’ll define the "Gold Standard" for our operations, spot when things aren't working, and jump in to fix them. Whether it’s rolling out new POS systems, driving energy-saving initiatives, or using contact centre data to fix a supply chain issue, you’ll be the strategic lead who makes it happen.

What You'll Bring

You’ve been working in a large-scale multi-channel retailer (we’re talking £500m+ turnover), so you know that operations aren’t just about processes; they’re about people. Even better if you have had operational responsibility for a contact centre team. You’re comfortable pivoting from a deep-dive technical meeting about systems to a creative session on store design without breaking a sweat.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Systems Thinking & Data-Driven Decision Making: You see the bigger picture. You don’t just spot a problem; you build a system to solve it. You’re comfortable with P&L and know how to turn data into a story that helps the business win.
  • Influence & Agility: You can work collaboratively with Marketing, Finance, and HR. You know how to negotiate, how to gain buy-in, and, most importantly, how to move fast when performance data tells you it’s time to pivot.
  • Customer Empathy: You can "talk trade." You understand the pressures of a busy tradesperson on site, and you know exactly how to translate those needs into simple, effective solutions that make our service better.

What You'll Get

You’ll find every opportunity to be yourself and to bring your personality and potential to work. You’ll find a business where you can develop a fulfilling career, wherever you want – up the ladder or across the group. You’ll also be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the role, such as a car allowance, contributory pension, BAYE and SAYE schemes, life assurance, and discounts off Travis Perkins businesses and a range of other affiliate partners.
