Head of Change, GUY'S & ST THOMAS FOUNDATION
Head of Change
The Head of Change leads the development, coordination, and delivery of the Foundation’s strategic change portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Transformation, this role provides expert direction on organisational change initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and fostering a culture where transformation is understood, embraced, and delivered confidently across the organisation.
The Head of Change acts as the Foundation’s change leader, shaping strategy, establishing high-quality programme delivery structures, and ensuring teams are ready and supported through change. This includes oversight of the Change team, leading cross-Foundation initiatives, and ensuring effective governance of all strategic programmes.
Working cross-organisationally, the role collaborates with the Chief People & Transformation Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Transformation on planning and delivery. The posture delivers a transformational, organisation-wide approach to change, rooted in best practice, and elevates programme delivery via a strengthened programme management office (PMO). Key outcomes include improved staff readiness, enhanced confidence during periods of change, and measurable progress against strategic transformation priorities. The role also champions a culture that embraces innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement.

- Develop and chair the strategic change governance forum, providing oversight, challenge, and clear direction.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team, senior stakeholders, and programme leads to refine change objectives and secure stakeholder buy-in.
- Work with the Chief Financial Officer to guide organisational planning, and monitor delivery of key KPIs.
- Cultivate a culture of change readiness, adaptability, and continuous improvement, while maintaining alignment with the Foundation’s strategic decision-making framework.
Programme & Portfolio Management
- Oversee a portfolio of high-impact strategic projects, ensuring consistent adherence to delivery standards and measurable outcomes.
- Lead the maturation of the Foundation’s project framework to improve governance, reporting, assurance, and delivery quality.
- Ensure the organisation has adequate resources—people, technology, and budget—to implement change without disrupting core operations.
- Monitor progress and evaluate the impact of initiatives, dynamically adjusting strategies to achieve strategic objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
