Head of IT Production

We are seeking an experienced Head of IT Production to lead the IT Production function within a fast-paced Corporate & Investment Banking environment. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the stability, security, and performance of IT Production services, Infrastructure, and End User Support while driving operational excellence, governance, resilience, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will oversee IT operations, infrastructure delivery, operational risk, supplier management, budgeting, and team leadership, ensuring technology services effectively support critical front-office and business operations.

Team Leadership

You will be responsible for leading two specialist IT teams:

  • Local IT Support

    • 4 permanent employees
    • 4 contractors
    • Responsible for end-user support and day-to-day IT service delivery.
  • IT Infrastructure & Projects

    • 4 permanent employees
    • Responsible for infrastructure engineering, project delivery, and platform improvements.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced Head of IT Production with:

  • 10–15+ years of IT Production, Infrastructure, or IT Operations experience.
  • Proven experience leading multiple technical teams within a Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) or Investment Banking environment.
  • Strong experience supporting trading floors and front-office technology environments.
  • A background in capital markets, asset banking, or investment banking technology.
  • Experience managing large-scale IT infrastructure, production support, and operational resilience.
  • Strong leadership experience managing both permanent staff and contractors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across technology, business, security, and senior leadership teams.
  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Disaster Recovery
    • Operational Resilience
    • IT Security & Governance
    • Budget & Supplier Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the IT Production function across Infrastructure Projects and IT Support.
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring service availability, operational stability, and high-quality support.
  • Prioritise infrastructure projects and operational initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement across IT Production services.
  • Implement and oversee IT change management processes.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and operational resilience plans and testing.
  • Ensure IT policies, procedures, and technical documentation remain current.
  • Manage operational risk and ensure appropriate governance and controls.
  • Produce regular operational reporting, KPIs, and service performance metrics.
  • Manage the IT Production budget and monitor operational expenditure.
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, technology teams, security, and third-party suppliers.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop both IT teams.
  • Set objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support career development.
  • Identify skills gaps and implement training and succession planning.
  • Ensure appropriate resource planning and operational coverage.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the teams.

Governance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, operational resilience, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor operational controls and documentation.
  • Support access governance and security reviews.
  • Oversee patch management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Ensure operational documentation is maintained and regularly reviewed.

Budget & Supplier Management

  • Manage the annual IT Production budget.
  • Monitor operational costs and identify efficiencies.
  • Manage supplier relationships and service delivery.
  • Ensure third-party performance meets agreed service levels.
