Head of Clinical Governance & Oversight – Clinical Coaching – UK

About the Role

Be part of something great Maximus is a global organisation that specialises in providing health and employment services to millions of people every year. Here in the UK, we employ around 5,000 people to deliver impactful services—from assessments and health support to employability programmes and specialist interventions. We do meaningful work with caring professionals who make a real difference in people’s lives.

This role is for a dynamic and experienced Clinical Governance Leader accountable for overseeing clinical coaching across a benefit/contract area. You will provide strategic governance, oversight, and assurance to maintain and improve standards, calibration, and consistency. Using MI trend analysis and insights, you’ll prioritise coaching efforts, drive quality improvements, and handle clinical risks appropriately.

You’ll collaborate with Operational Managers and senior stakeholders to align clinical priorities, coordinate interventions, and represent the function externally (e.g., with DWP) to uphold contractual and clinical integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and govern clinical assurance frameworks, ensuring full adherence to policy, governance standards, and regulatory/contractual requirements.
  • Lead the entire quality function, from scheduling and oversight to calibration, acceptance, challenge, escalation, and reporting of trends for continuous improvement.
  • Provide clinical leadership for coaching, defining priorities and ensuring consistency across the team of Clinical Support Coaches, as well as calibrating standards for new entrants and experienced Health Professionals.
  • Use MI, quality outcomes, and qualitative insights to identify systemic risks, sponsor targeted interventions, and track impact on quality, consistency, and customer outcomes.
  • Line manage Clinical Delivery/SB Leads and Clinical Content Developers, enhancing capability, coaching leadership, and ensuring operational efficiency, decision rights, and escalation discipline.
  • Chair/attend key governance forums, acting as the senior escalation point for complex clinical issues beyond operational scope, and co-ordinate cross-functional recovery plans.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including DWP partners, to align expectations, respond to findings, and drive improvements across the benefit area.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
