Head of Cloud | Global Banking Organisation

London | 4 days in the office
£1200 per day inside IR35 | 6 month contract

Our client, a leading global banking organisation, is seeking an experienced Head of Cloud to define and execute its multi-cloud strategy across Azure, AWS and Oracle Cloud. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving cloud transformation, modernising infrastructure, reducing technology and cyber risk, and accelerating cloud adoption across the organisation.

Leading a team of Cloud Engineers, you will shape the cloud operating model, oversee cloud platforms and vendor relationships, manage cloud investment and financial governance, and work closely with global technology teams to deliver secure, scalable and innovative cloud solutions that support the organisation's strategic objectives.

  • Proven experience leading enterprise Cloud Engineering teams within financial services, delivering large-scale cloud transformation and infrastructure modernisation programmes.
  • Deep technical expertise across Azure, AWS and Oracle Cloud, including hybrid cloud architecture, Infrastructure-as-Code, cloud networking, security, identity and cloud-native platforms.
  • Strong experience delivering cloud migration and implementation projects, managing multiple workstreams, budgets, third-party vendors and senior stakeholders (MD/C-Level) within complex regulated environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of Cloud Identity & Access Management, including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, SSO, AD Connect, LDAP and Identity Synchronisation.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Security, DevOps and modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, Agile, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift and automation.
  • Experience delivering IaaS, PaaS and hybrid cloud solutions, with a solid understanding of cloud governance, resilience, cost optimisation and operational best practice.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled cloud services, including Azure OpenAI and cloud AI platforms, together with an understanding of cloud security and AI governance.
  • Outstanding leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead engineering teams, influence senior executives and drive cloud adoption across large global organisations.
  • Relevant cloud certifications (Azure, AWS and/or Oracle Cloud) and a strong understanding of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL are highly desirable.
