Location: Bristol City Centre (Hybrid – 3 days in office) Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 + 20% Bonus + Additional Benefits
Are you ready to be the driving force behind a cutting-edge defence start-up? Our client, a fast-growing innovator in the defence sector, is looking for a senior hire in the Commercial team – a Head of Commercial who will shape the future of their business.
The Role
As Head of Commercial, you’ll be the go-to expert for all commercial and contract matters, responsible for bidding into the MoD across various defence categories. You'll play a key role in winning business, structuring deals, and ensuring compliance, while also building and leading a high-performing team as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow the commercial function, setting the strategy for business development and contract management
- Develop and manage bids for MoD contracts, ensuring competitive and compliant proposals
- Negotiate, review, and manage contracts, acting as the key commercial decision-maker
- Advise on risk, compliance, and legal considerations, ensuring adherence to defence industry regulations
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive revenue growth and market positioning
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a customer-facing senior commercial/contracts role within the defence sector
- Strong knowledge of MoD contracts and UK defence contracting frameworks
- Ability to develop commercial strategies and execute winning bid processes
- Leadership skills, with the ambition to build and mentor a commercial team
- Entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth start-up environment
