THE OPPORTUNITY – HEAD OF COMMERCIAL
The Head of Commercial role provides high quality commercial support and guidance across the Spirit Energy portfolio by leading commercial activities while maximising commercial value for the Spirit Energy business. This role will also engage and manage any third-party support as appropriate.
- Location: Aberdeen
- Duration: 2-year contract
- Contract Type: PAYE
- Day Rate: TBC - For your application to be progressed, please ensure you provide a PAYE day rate banding expectation.

Spirit Energy currently has a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full-time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
In role, you will be required to:
- Accountable for the delivery and management of effective governance and process relating to the management of existing commercial agreements.
- Ensure commercial obligations are met, identifying and managing risks, while adopting a programmatic approach to dispute resolution.
- Lead and deliver new and innovative commercial arrangements suitable for the changing industry landscape across the asset lifecycle.
- Develop and mature value-adding opportunities while managing and mitigating commercial risks.
- Drive maximising value in deal negotiations ensuring the long-term viability of Spirit Energy asset base.
- Pursue commercial solutions with tenacity, routinely deploying a range of influencing, leadership, and negotiating styles dependent on the counterparty or internal stakeholder.
- Adopt a solutions-based approach to commercial issues and disputes.
- Assimilate complex data and information, developing and presenting a path forward.
- Lead and manage projects, driving pace and ensuring both internal and external stakeholders are fully briefed and engaged.
- Engage with and influence both internal and external counterparties to effectively drive Spirit’s strategy.
- Ensure that all commercial activities undertaken are in accordance with Spirit Energy’s Commercial process, procedures, and governance, while adhering to ICOP/CCOP and SE7.
- Active participation in peer reviews and commercial due diligence as required, challenge established practice and drive continual improvement in the commercial function.
- Any other associated duties as reasonably required.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
- Strong E&P Commercial skills, including negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Excellent collaboration, team working, and communication skills.
- Sound numerical and analytical ability and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with basic exploration, operations, legal, and decommissioning terminology.
- Familiarity with decision quality and framing.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory processes throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Degree qualified.
