Location: Berkshire / Home Counties Sector: Civil Engineering
Our client is a leading UK Civil Engineering Contractor, boasting an extensive forward order book in Highways, Rail, Water and General Civil Engineering.
Due to a mix of succession planning and framework/project awards, they are now recruiting for a Head of Commercial. This role presents a critical hire, positioning the successful candidate on the track to become Commercial Director.
About the Role
This position is tailored for a Senior Commercial Manager/Commercial Manager aiming for progression to a Directors-level role. The Head of Commercial will oversee the following:

- Pre- and post-contract negotiations
- Management of a team spanning Commercial Managers, Square Mile (SQS) and Quantities Surveyors (QS) within a designated region
- High-level client engagement and input into commercial strategy*
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate terms for New Civil Engineering Projects and manage project contracts
- Lead a team of Commercial professionals (SQS, QS, and Commercial Managers) in a regional capacity
- Directly liaise with clients, ensuring alignment with commercial strategy and objectives
- Contribute strategically to overall commercial decision-making and risk management

About the Person
- A degree-qualified professional in a related field (preferably Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Commerce)
- Proven experience in managing Negotious Applied Contracts (NEC3/NEC4) frameworks
- Comfortable in a highly client-facing Environment
- Driveable candidates (due to potential office-based locations in Berkshire/Home Counties)
