JOB TITLE: Head of Commercial Strategy
SALARY: Competitive* Will be discussed at interview stage
LOCATION(S): London and Bristol
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this Opportunity:
This is a high-impact leadership role shaping the commercial strategy for our Business Banking segment.
You'll set direction on where we grow, how we invest, and how we deliver value for clients. Working closely with Product, Finance, Data and Digital, you’ll turn insight into a clear commercial plan, drive actions to achieve the plan, influence priority of investment decisions and track commercial outcomes against the plan.
If you enjoy combining strategy, data and commercial performance to drive growth at scale, this is a key role with real influence.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the commercial strategy, plan and priorities for the Business Banking segment
- Own and track delivery of the commercial plan, including milestones, risks, actions and dependencies
- Partner with Finance and Product teams to manage P&L performance, revenue and profitability drivers
- Define priority sub-segments, sectors and growth opportunities using client and market insight, looking at client level profitability and lifetime value
- Lead needs-based segmentation to identify growth areas and priority sub-segments
- Shape and prioritise investment cases based on return, impact and feasibility
- Influence senior leaders and align teams to deliver growth while meeting risk and regulatory expectations

What we’re looking for?
- Experience managing commercial performance within Financial Services, preferably in SME or commercial banking
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including knowledge of balance sheet and non-balance-sheet income drivers, profitability and value creation, with experience in forecasting, commercial planning leading to prioritisation of actions and investment decisions.
- Strategic and commercial leadership, with the ability to influence enterprise-level strategy and translate it into clear, prioritised plans that deliver measurable commercial results
- Experience using client, market and financial insight to define sub-segments, measure customer level profitability and lifetime value.
- Confident using data and insight, fluent with AI-enabled financial analysis
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and deliver outcomes in complex, matrixed and regulated environments
- Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing teams. Drives a strong performance culture focused on customer outcomes, sustainable growth, effective risk management, and inclusive talent development
- Actively promotes diversity and inclusion, while developing and progressing talent
