About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape the commercial future of one of London's most ambitious boroughs.
As Head of Commercial Venues and Partnerships, you'll create and lead a new commercial function with the freedom to develop fresh ways of working, unlock new revenue opportunities and build partnerships that make a lasting difference to Hounslow.
Leading commercial strategy across an exciting and diverse portfolio—including venues, events, advertising, sponsorship, filming and strategic partnerships—you'll identify new income streams, develop compelling commercial propositions and secure high-value relationships that generate sustainable revenue while supporting better outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors.
Working within our Communications, Culture and Engagement Division, you'll lead teams responsible for venue sales, event account management and contract management, while taking direct responsibility for advertising and sponsorship. You'll work closely with senior leaders, elected Members and commercial partners to position Hounslow as a destination for investment, events and collaboration.
This is far more than a commercial leadership role. You'll influence pricing strategies, shape new commercial products, negotiate complex partnerships and use market insight to drive decision-making. Every opportunity you create will help support the Council's wider ambitions around place-making, culture, economic growth and social value.
As a member of Hounslow's Leadership Group, you'll play a key role in shaping the organisation's future, championing innovation and contributing to the strategic leadership of one of London's most dynamic boroughs.
Initially, you'll be responsible for growing commercial income across seven venues—including Hounslow House, Boston Manor House, Hogarth's House and four public halls—as well as council publications, communications channels, corporate and community events, filming and outdoor advertising. As the commercial function evolves, so too will your portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
