Head of Communications

Location: London

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Head of Communications to develop and lead a communications strategy across all sectors and business areas for a leading professional services business.

This role will oversee both internal and external communications (65%/35% lean on internal comms vs external comms), ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals, enhancing brand awareness, and engaging employees globally.

Communications Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver an internal communications strategy to ensure employees understand and engage with the organisation’s vision, goals, and key achievements.
  • Partner with senior leadership and functional teams to design and roll out communications programmes supporting business priorities.
  • Manage internal communication platforms and tools, including intranet, webinars, and town halls.
  • Lead communications for initiatives such as CSR, DE&I, Wellbeing, and Alumni engagement.
  • Develop and implement a global external communications strategy that supports business and marketing objectives.
  • Lead media relations, building and maintaining relationships with key industry, professional, and trade media.
  • Oversee social media strategy to grow engagement and advocacy, producing high-quality content for multiple channels.
  • Manage external agencies to maximise brand reach and impact.
  • Oversee team delivery including press releases, award submissions, industry publication content, and thought leadership initiatives.

Key Competencies

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong drafting and presentation skills with attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build credibility and strong relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of marketing communication channels including PR, social, digital, and content marketing.
  • Leadership and team management experience, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

You Will Have:

  • Extensive years in a senior communications role, ideally within international professional services or partnership environments (legal, accountancy, or related).
  • Proven track record delivering high-impact communications strategies that drive brand awareness and internal engagement.
  • Experience working across multiple markets and aligning communications to business objectives.
