Head of Communications & Events

(12-Month Contract Covering Maternity Leave)

Our client, a rapidly expanding direct-to-consumer (DTC) watch brand with a strong, global community, is hiring a Head of Communications & Events to fill a leadership role during the COO’s maternity leave.

About the Role

This is a senior strategy-driven position facilitating cross-functional alignment within a two-track marketing org. Working closely with the Head of Brand, you’ll oversee PR, organic social, partnerships, events, and showrooms, collaborating across customer touchpoints to deliver an integrated marketing strategy. Report directly into the COO.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing communications team covering:
    • PR
    • Organic social & creative content
    • Partnerships & activation
    • Events & showroom management
  • Drive integrated communications planning with the Head of Brand, ensuring consistency across channels

Partnership & Sponsorship Strategy

  • Own the brand’s sponsorship strategy, including high-profile sporting and media partnerships
  • Ensure seamless alignment across PR, social media, content, events, and showrooms

PR & Media

  • Lead global earned media strategy across:
    • Watch, lifestyle, business and mainstream press
    • Executive profiling for founders and senior leadership
  • Manage crisis communications proactively

Organic Social & Content

  • Define social media strategy across key platforms
  • Develop new content formats and series, balancing creativity with commercial performance
  • Link social activity directly to business outcomes and sales

Events & Showrooms

  • Oversee a global events calendar, including:
    • Product launches
    • Partnership activations
    • Industry shows/trade events
  • Lead marketing strategy for showrooms, maintaining alignment via cross-functional forums

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

  • Manage an established charitable giving programme
  • Arrange budgeting and external relationships
  • Align CSR storytelling with both internal and external audiences

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in communications, brand leadership, or partnerships with broad remit ownership
  • Proven track record managing teams across PR, social media, events, and partnerships
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, ensuring pace without losing strategic focus
  • Commercially astute, with experience measuring brand activity against business results
  • Experienced in premium/lifestyle luxury sectors (watch or accessories preferred, though not essential)
  • Crisis communications experience with adaptive communication in high-pressure situations
