Scottish Renewables is creating a new senior communications leadership role at a transformational moment for both the organisation and the wider renewable energy sector.

As Head of Communications, you will be responsible for developing and leading the organisation's communications strategy, ensuring Scottish Renewables remains a trusted, influential and respected voice across government, industry and the public sphere. Working alongside the Director of Public Affairs & Communications, you'll help shape how the renewable energy sector is understood, represented and championed during a period of significant political and societal change.

The Opportunity

This newly created role has been designed to separate strategic communications from commercial marketing activity, providing dedicated leadership on reputation, messaging, advocacy and industry profile.

You will:

  • Lead Scottish Renewables' communications strategy and organisational narrative.
  • Translate complex policy issues into compelling external communications.
  • Develop messaging frameworks and advocacy campaigns.
  • Build the organisation's reputation and visibility across key audiences.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders.
  • Support members by helping communicate the sector's successes, challenges and priorities.
  • Lead and develop the Media Manager while serving as a trusted adviser to the leadership team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
