Head of Community and Events – Fundraising at Tŷ Hafan

Are you an experienced fundraising leader with a passion for bringing people together, creating memorable experiences and inspiring communities to support a cause that truly matters?

At Tŷ Hafan, we ensure that when a child’s life will be short, no family has to live it alone. Our Income Generation team plays a vital role in making this ambition a reality. We are seeking a Head of Community and Events to lead and grow two key fundraising areas: Community Fundraising and Fundraising Events.

About the Role

As Head of Community and Events, you will provide strategic leadership for a diverse and ambitious programme of fundraising events and community activity.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and delivering long-term fundraising strategies that prioritise income growth, supporter engagement, and alignment with Tŷ Hafan’s mission.
  • Leading the Events Manager and Community Fundraising Manager, as well as their teams, to deliver high-quality, supporter-focused initiatives that maximise impact.
  • Collaborating across Income Generation, Marketing, Communications, Business Intelligence (BI), and other departments to strengthen community presence in Wales.
  • Ensuring all fundraising activity is safe, professional, and data-driven while fostering creative, insight-led approaches.
  • Supporting innovation and long-term growth in both community fundraising and live events, from planning and delivery to relationship-building with supporters, partners, and volunteers.

This role demands a strategic leader who excels in: ✔ Combining macro-thinking (big-picture strategy) with tactical execution (hands-on delivery). ✔ Balancing financial accountability with creativity in designing compelling fundraising opportunities. ✔ People leadership—coaching, inspiring andholding teams accountable for results. ✔ Delivering exceptional supporter experiences aligned with Tŷ Hafan’s values.

About You

We’re looking for a confident, values-driven fundraising leader with:

Experience & Skill Set:

  • Proven track record in leading community fundraising and/or fundraising events, including strategic oversight and hands-on delivery.
  • Expertise in writing and implementing fundraising plans that align with business goals, drive ROI, and achieve long-term growth.
  • Experience managing teams—motivating staff to meet targets, improve productivity, and deliver high-quality experiences.
  • Experience with data analysis and audience insight to inform strategy and improve campaign performance.
  • A bold, creative approach to problem-solving and supporter engagement.
  • Strong resourcefulness, resilience, and the ability to inspire mutually beneficial relationships with donors, partners, and volunteers.
  • Professionalism, warmth, and authentic communication skills to represent Tŷ Hafan effectively.
