Head of Compliance & Quality Assurance
Addenbrooke’s Hospital
We’re looking for a Head of Compliance & Quality Assurance to lead commercial, contractual, quality and health & safety compliance across a major healthcare contract at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Reporting to the Contract Director, you’ll set standards, manage risk and drive continuous improvement within a complex, regulated environment.
Leading a team of 1 Manager and 6 Officers, you’ll oversee audit and monitoring activity, ensure robust compliance with SLAs, KPIs and regulatory requirements, and work closely with operations to improve quality, performance and efficiency. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, support contractual governance and play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality Control Manager and Officers, embedding a strong culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Own all quality, health & safety and monitoring activity, ensuring full commercial, contractual and regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert compliance and risk advice, supporting stakeholders with contractual interpretation, SLAs, KPIs and performance frameworks.
- Oversee auditing, monitoring and reporting, including management information, variance analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain the Quality Plan and monitoring systems to evidence compliance and drive improved outcomes.
- Manage quality, operational and commercial risks, supporting governance, claims management and dispute resolution as required.
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships, supporting patient experience improvement and service integrity.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement through benchmarking, service trials and action‑led improvement plans.

About You
- Significant experience in a senior compliance, quality or audit role within a complex or regulated organisation.
- Strong commercial and contractual expertise, including SLAs, KPIs, payment mechanisms and performance frameworks.
- Proven ability to drive quality improvement and deliver compliance‑related initiatives.
- Experience working in healthcare, hospital or highly regulated environments.
- Sound knowledge of ISO standards, quality management systems and auditing (e.g. LRQA or equivalent).
- Confident leader with experience managing and developing teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of risk, governance, GDPR and contractual/legal principles.
- Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills, with high personal integrity.
- Highly organised, self‑motivated and adaptable, with strong IT and reporting capability.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable
- Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)
- Experience leading service innovations, trials or multi‑site contracts
- Additional quality qualifications (e.g. ISO Lead Auditor)
