About the team:
Our commercial team sits at the heart of Leekes, working closely with buying, store management and omni-channel marketing to shape how our customers shop with us. The Conservatories, Windows & Doors department is a key growth category, and this role leads it end-to-end – from the supplier relationship all the way through to the finished installation on a customer’s home.
About the role:
We’re looking for a commercially-driven leader to take full ownership of our Conservatories, Windows & Doors proposition. You’ll manage the entire operation – budgets, product, marketing, surveys, contract costing and installations – working closely with the CWD Director, store management and marketing teams to build and deliver a winning strategy.
Your responsibilities will span:
- P&L performance – set and deliver annual buying, sales, margin and profit budgets; allocate sales targets and manage performance to ensure they’re hit or exceeded; implement cost controls; work with Operations Managers on P&L projections; analyse monthly and YTD P&Ls to identify improvements in margin, cost and salary management; deliver net profit across all departments monthly
- Product & suppliers – track local and national competitor pricing, range and displays to stay ahead of the market; agree and implement supplier, range and display strategy; negotiate pricing and terms; manage supplier relationships and performance, de-listing poor performers where needed; keep the pricing and supplier databases up to date; manage returns and credits accurately and on time
- Sales & marketing – work with the omnichannel marketing team to convert online and in-store enquiries into leads and sales through both digital and traditional activity; review in-store displays to ensure they showcase choice and promote current offers; work with store management to hit lead generation targets and keep conversion rates consistent; manage the sales team to maximise clean, quality sales; register all new conservatory sales within two working days and check against the sales registration document
- Reputation & customer experience – drive strong customer testimonials and manage the department’s reputation on platforms like Trustpilot; respond to negative feedback and review with Operations Managers; enter industry awards for service and installation; review written complaints and implement improvements; build a marketing calendar and content plan with the Omnichannel team; maximise data capture for direct marketing
- Operations & surveys – allocate conservatory contracts to surveyors based on skillset and workload; manage the surveying team to ensure accuracy and timeliness; review survey quality, provide training and raise debits where required
- Contract costing – work with the Contract Costing Supervisor to ensure all conservatory contracts are correctly costed and authorised upfront; review discrepancies between expected and actual costs, adjusting pricing and operations as needed; manage the Supervisor against agreed KPIs
- Installations & guarantee work – manage the Base, Conservatory and Window & Door Operations Managers against KPIs; regularly review department structure and skillsets; review debts, complaints and contract status weekly to catch issues early; oversee the Service department to balance cost control with excellent customer service
- People management – lead, coach and develop your sales, admin and customer service team through clear KPIs, personal development reviews and ongoing communication; set and monitor objectives; motivate the team to hit departmental goals; handle performance issues fairly and promptly; mentor future managers for Leekes
- Compliance & health & safety – ensure installation teams meet all legislative requirements, including subcontractor insurance and Risk Assessments/Method Statements; work with payroll and finance on correct subcontractor payments via the Construction Industry Scheme; ensure work is scheduled around planning permission, building regulations and build-over-sewer agreements

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
