Salary band: £55-£65k per annum

An exciting opportunity has now arisen to join our team as Head of Consultancy, playing a key role in shaping the growth and trajectory of FuturePlus, while leading our consultancy team in driving positive change for clients across our key impact pillars.
Role Overview
As Head of Consultancy at FuturePlus, you play a pivotal role in shaping the success of the organisation. Leading a team of Sustainability Consultants, you will design and drive innovative, profitable consultancy solutions that complement our core FuturePlus offering across Climate, Diversity & Inclusion, Social, Economic, and Environment themes.
With a deep understanding of the evolving sustainability landscape, you will act as a highly visible voice for FuturePlus in the sustainability space, overseeing exceptional client relationships, ensuring robust operational and capacity management, and supporting a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the delivery of high-quality sustainability consultancy services, ensuring clients receive an exceptional experience and measurable value.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients by acting as a strategic advisor on sustainability, ESG, and social impact.
- Oversee the successful delivery of client projects, ensuring work is delivered to a consistently high standard, within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Champion continuous improvement by applying the FuturePlus methodology to develop practical ESG measurement frameworks and improvement plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Act as the senior quality assurance lead for sustainability projects, ensuring technical excellence across all client deliverables.

Commercial Growth & Product Development
- Support the company's growth by identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships and contribute to new business development.
- Support the development and evolution of the company's sustainability products, methodologies and service offerings, ensuring they remain commercially relevant and aligned with market needs.
- Develop compelling client proposals that balance ambition with practical delivery and create long-term value for clients.
- Work closely with the leadership team to shape operational systems, processes and technology that enable the consultancy to scale efficiently.
- Bring curiosity and innovation to the role, identifying new opportunities, testing ideas, and continuously improving how we deliver sustainability services.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, coach and develop a team of sustainability consultants, creating a collaborative, high-performing culture built on accountability, learning and shared success.
- Set priorities and manage team capacity to ensure resources are effectively allocated across client projects.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations to support individual growth and well-being.
- Support technical excellence by ensuring the team remains up to date with emerging sustainability regulations, carbon accounting methodologies, ESG reporting frameworks and industry best practice.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and the continued development of the sustainability team as the business grows.
- Continuously review delivery processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, collaboration and project performance.

Thought Leadership & Brand
- Represent the company as a recognised sustainability expert, building credibility with clients, partners and the wider market.
- Contribute to the organisation's thought leadership through articles, case studies, webinars, events and digital content.
- Provide technical expertise to support business development activities, marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships.
- Stay at the forefront of developments in sustainability, ESG, carbon accounting and regulation, helping shape the company's strategic direction and market positioning.
About You
You’re an experienced sustainability professional with a strong consulting background and a passion for helping organisations create meaningful environmental and social impact. Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, you'll thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where collaboration, initiative and adaptability are essential. With a demonstrated public speaking and thought-leadership presence, you'll enjoy leading and developing people, building trusted client relationships, and helping shape the future direction of a growing consultancy. Most importantly, you'll be motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine impact, for our clients, our team and our business.
