Head of Content

About The Role
As Head of Content, you will lead the next phase of growth for a functioning and ambitious department.
Working in close partnership with the Executive Creative Director and Content-focused Creative Directors, you will ensure that exceptional creative output is underpinned by strong commercial performance, effective operations and a clear, scalable offering.
You will partner with our Chief Growth Officer to define how content evolves within EC - expanding its reach, sharpening its commercial edge and embedding it more deeply across the business.
This is a head of department role, requiring strength in commercial ownership, operational delivery and people leadership, with the confidence to influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Growth
- Define and deliver a clear strategy for scaling the content department and its role within EC.
- Identify and develop new revenue streams, including standalone content opportunities.
- Position content as a core part of the EC offer and a differentiator in the market.
- Own departmental financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability and forecasting.
- Contribute to the broader business strategy as part of the senior leadership team.
Commercial & Client Leadership
- Lead content conversations with clients, bringing credibility, clarity and commercial focus.
- Play a key role in business development, shaping proposals, pitches and new opportunities.
- Build strong, trusted relationships at the senior client level.
- Spot and convert opportunities to grow accounts and expand the content offering.
- Balance creative ambition with commercial delivery, ensuring strong outcomes across both.

Creative Partnership
- Partner closely with the Executive Creative Director to deliver best-in-class content.
- Bring a strong understanding of how content enhances storytelling within live and hybrid experiences.
- Ensure the team is set up to deliver creative excellence consistently and at scale.
- Stay connected to industry trends and innovation, bringing ideas and perspective into the business.
Leadership & Capability
- Lead, develop and grow a multidisciplinary content team.
- Create clarity in structure, roles and progression to support long-term growth.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative and accountable culture.
- Mentor and develop individuals, supporting both performance and potential.
- Build and manage a strong network of freelance and specialist talent.
Operational Excellence
- Implement scalable processes and systems to support growth and efficiency
- Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of content into wider project delivery
- Oversee resourcing, delivery standards and margin performance
- Ensure governance, compliance and best practice across all content output
What you bring:
- Significant experience leading a content function or similar within an agency environment
- A strong commercial mindset, with experience owning budgets, driving revenue and delivering growth
- Proven ability to scale teams, processes and output
- Confidence operating at senior level, influencing both clients and internal stakeholders
- Experience within live events, brand experience or a closely related industry
- A genuine passion for content and its role in storytelling and audience experience
