Head of Credit

Specialist SME Lender | East Midlands

£Very Competitive to Attract the Best + Significant Bonus + Executive Benefits | Relocation Support Available

A specialist SME lender that has trebled in size, invested heavily in AI-driven credit scoring and proprietary decisioning infrastructure, and is now seeking an exceptional credit leader to take full ownership of its credit function.

This is a role for someone ready to own credit - not manage within it.

The Mandate

Reporting into executive leadership and working closely with the data science, operations, and commercial teams, the Head of Credit will take full sanctioning authority across the business, lead underwriting policy and governance, and help architect the credit function for the organisation's next phase of scale.

The business has invested significantly in AI-driven credit scoring, automated decisioning models, and real-time data infrastructure. The Head of Credit will work in close partnership with the data science team - not simply as a governance function, but as a genuine contributor to how models are designed, calibrated, and applied to real-world underwriting decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

  • Experience contributing to or leading credit policy, delegated authority frameworks, and portfolio governance
