If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Cross-sell & Early Engagement, Unsecured Lending (Acquisition).

Looking to build the next wave of responsible growth in UK Unsecured Lending using data, creativity and sharp commercial thinking? We’re hiring a senior leader in our Acquisition team to own and accelerate cross-sell performance across Credit Cards and Personal Loans within our current account base, while also shaping early engagement so new-to-card customers activate quickly, spend with confidence and keep HSBC “front of wallet”. You’ll set the strategy and drive delivery at pace—aligning stakeholders across Product, Marketing, Analytics, CRM, Digital, Channels and Risk to translate customer insight into targeted, test-and-learn campaigns that improve conversion, maximise lifetime value and deliver strong customer outcomes. In return, you’ll get the scope to influence a major customer segment in a truly global organisation.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

In This Role You’ll

  • Own the end-to-end cross-sell acquisition strategy for Credit Cards and Personal Loans within the current account base, defining channel mix, targeting, proposition approach and delivery priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional stakeholder alignment across Analytics, Marketing, CRM, Digital, Channels and Risk to agree shared goals, execution plans, governance and measurable outcomes.
  • Deliver against segment sales and growth targets through disciplined performance management, including funnel reporting, conversion improvement actions and clear accountability.
  • Make insight-led decisions by combining customer research and feedback with campaign performance data and advanced analytics to continuously optimise targeting, messaging and results.
  • Embed a strong test-and-learn approach, using experimentation to refine audiences, propositions and communications while scaling what works into business-as-usual.
  • Shape early engagement and longer-term value strategies for Credit Cards, improving activation, first spend, ongoing spend and front-of-wallet behaviour, while ensuring customer communications are clear, fair and drive good customer outcomes.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Must have demonstrated experience driving acquisition, cross-sell and/or lifecycle growth for Credit Cards, Unsecured Lending or Retail Banking products, or within a similarly data-led consumer business.
  • Proven ability to deliver commercial targets through CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and marketing execution, coordinating stakeholders to translate plans into measurable results.
  • Prior experience of working with and influencing cross functional senior stakeholders to ensure products receive priority and focus.
  • Highly data-driven with strong performance management capability; comfortable interpreting analytics, campaign results and funnel metrics to diagnose issues and improve outcomes (without needing to build models yourself).
  • Strong track record partnering with CRM, Marketing, Analytics and Risk, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align teams around shared objectives and delivery plans.
  • Able to operate strategically and tactically setting a clear direction and then driving hands-on execution to deliver at pace.
  • Sound commercial judgement with a clear commitment to responsible growth, fair customer treatment and strong customer outcomes.
