Head of Data – Private Equity Backed Financial Services Client
Camino Search are Partnering with a private equity-backed financial services client hiring for a:
Head of Data (CXO Level, Salary: ~£100,000 base)
About the Role
You will play a critical role in scaling data capabilities to support the post-acquisition growth of a private equity-backed business. Your expertise will drive technology modernisation, align with organic growth strategy, and accelerate M&A integration.
We’re looking for strategic leaders who can:
- Transition "data as a roadblock" into "data as a multiplier" across the organisation.
- Build a sustainable, scalable data architecture capable of fueling AI initiatives, M&A synergy extraction, and market responsiveness.
- Navigate the buyer world balance—balancing immediate operational needs with long-term transformation.
Notice period: Immediate start preferred, flexible up to 3 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define a high-impact data vision aligned with the broader business strategy—inclusive of AI enablement.
- Collaborate with CEOs, CFOs and tech teams to embed data-driven decisioning with commercial imperatives.
- Operational Transformation:
- Lead end-to-end data product ownership (design, build, scale, evolve). -יְהַחֵלוּת to embed standards and governance, from ingestion to delivery.
- Platform Growth:
- Drive the modernisation of legacy systems, ensuring data adjacencies are minimised or optimised for cost.
- Synergy Realisation:
- Typically performing post-merger M&A tasks, ensuring technological alignment maximises share buyout efficiencies.
- Thought Leadership:
- Present an executive view—speaking the language of ROI, not just technical specs.

Requirements
Experience & Expertise
✅ Proven track record as a Head of Data/Data Strategist in a scaling business (especially in private equity environments or M&A-heavy industries like fintech, fin services, or capital markets).
✅ Direct experience transforming data functions in growing/scaling organisations, with clear KPIs around velocity, impact and future-proofing.
✅ Understanding of building AI-ready data foundations—do you speak both business outcomes and data infrastructure requirements fluently?
✅ Strong commercial acumen—ability to balance immediate commercial needs (e.g., M&A payback) with long-term fundamental reconstruction.

✅ Stakeholder articulation skills: From explaining data frameworks to executives to collaborating across departments.
Critical Proficiencies
- Technological vision: Infrastructure literacy encompassing cloud platforms (GCP → we don't discriminate), data warehouses, real-time processing, and relevant AI/ML tooling.
- Change leadership: You are the ultimate project connector—the hub between pockets of genius or legacy erosion, ensuring alignment without stagnation.
Preferences (Bonus!)
- Background in building a buy-and-build data conduit—learning early value and migrating late-takers efficiently.
- Experience in identifying technical/scaling pain points where founders/CXO ignore (but can’t) at their peril.
