About Lawhive

Our mission is to make the law accessible to everyone.

The legal industry is built on technology and processes that haven’t been updated in hundreds of years—that’s why we’ve reinvented the entire model from the ground up, with our own bespoke AI operating system at the core.

Lawhive is a regulated law firm with an AI-native platform built to amplify expertise and revolutionise the way people practice law, leading to exceptional outcomes for clients and lawyers. Our AI labs (Lawhive Labs) combine top-tier engineering, design, AI, and legal talent to build the future of law.

We’re backed by top-tier investors, including Google Ventures, Balderton Capital, and TQ Ventures, and in December 2025, we secured a $60M Series B funding round to facilitate international expansion and team growth.

We’re headquartered in London and successfully launched in the US in 2025, and we’re just getting started.

Data at Lawhive

We are building the world’s first AI-native consumer law firm, and the data foundations must match this ambition. Over the next 12 months, the data function will:

  • Transform our internal data stack so that anyone in the business can explore, analyse, and act on data without filing a ticket, using the latest AI tooling.
  • Build the data integration playbook for acquired firms as we expand our firm portfolio. Each firm runs different systems, requiring a canonical Lawhive data model that scales.
  • Drive self-serve adoption so that business teams operate faster, and the data team is no longer a bottleneck for routine questions.

The current team consists of:

  • A Senior Data Engineer
  • An Analytics Engineer
  • Two Data Analysts

The Head of Data will lead this team, report directly to the CTO, and collaborate closely with Strategy, Finance, and business functions.

Our existing stack includes: BigQuery, dbt, Hex, Dagster, Kubernetes (K8s), Claude Code, and infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Head of Data is expected to be hands-on technically and strategically, with strong opinions on optimising, replacing, or evolving components.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role

As Head of Data, you’ll lead Lawhive’s data function through a step-change in capability, reporting directly to our CTO, Jaime. You’ll:

  • Own the data stack, build the data integration capability for acquired firms, and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team.
  • Diagnose and upgrade our data stack within your first 12 months, proposing a target architecture for AI-native self-serve-first analytics (including warehouse, modelling, semantic layer, data visualisation, and exploration).
  • Design and own the acquisition data integration playbook, ensuring a repeatable process for onboarding new firms in weeks—not months.
  • Empower self-serve data access via a platform enabling business users to explore, query, and answer their own questions without relying on the data team.
  • Define and enforce data quality SLAs, covering freshness, accuracy, ownership, and end-to-end lineage.
  • Lead and grow the data team, coaching analysts to be stronger cross-functional partners and hiring/onboarding a data integration engineer in year one.
  • Partner with Strategy on metric definition, owning instrumentation, semantic layer, and accuracy while collaborating on the metric council.
  • Drive AI-native practices across the data team, leveraging LLMs for entity resolution, schema mapping, data quality, and exploration.
  • Be a key cross-functional partner to Product, Engineering, Finance, Strategy, and operational teams in acquired firms.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • End-to-end data stack ownership at a B2B SaaS scaleup, including the ability to share what you built, why it was changed, and lessons learned.
  • Experience in acquiring/integrating data systems in an M&A-heavy company or roll-up, particularly in a B2B SaaS context. You should know how to handle messy legacy systems and conflicting schemas.
  • Strong opinions on modern data infrastructure, including warehousing, modelling, semantic layer, BI tooling, and exploration, with the ability to defend trade-offs.
  • AI-native expertise, using tools like Cursor, Claude, dbt AI, and agentic notebooks daily. You should have shipping products and features using LLMs (e.g., entity resolution, schema mapping, data quality automation).
  • Commercial intuition, partnering effectively with functional heads to translate business needs into data infrastructure.
  • Nice-to-haves:
    • Experience building/implementing semantic layers (e.g., LookML, Cube.js, or dbt semantic layer).
    • Background at a PE-backed software roll-up or M&A-heavy SaaS firm.
    • Familiarity with legal services, legal tech, or regulated marketplaces.
