Overview

The Head of Data Solutions leads the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of data products across Gallagher. This role ensures that high-quality, trusted, and scalable data assets are delivered to support the UK Business and corporate reporting and analytical needs, enabling the achievement of business objectives.

This role blends product leadership, data strategy, and stakeholder management to transform data into measurable business value. The role reports to the UK Chief Data Officer to support UK data strategy and aligns with the global Enterprise Management team to support the global data strategy.

Location: Based from our London City office.

Working Arrangement: Flexible hybrid working with 2–3 office-based days per week.


How You’ll Make an Impact

Data Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and own the UK data product strategy, aligned with business growth, regulatory obligations, and digital transformation priorities.
  • Develop a clear and defined roadmap for data products supporting UK and global business operations, such as corporate reporting, regulatory compliance, Gallagher Digital, Finance, and Single Customer View.
  • Champion a product-led approach to data, ensuring each product has defined value, users, service-level agreements (SLAs), and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as the senior authority on data solutions, advising senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and investments in data.
  • Articulate roadmaps, functionality, and organisational benefits of data product strategy implementation, backed by data and KPIs.

Product Lifecycle Ownership

  • Establish the Data Product Lifecycle framework to ensure data products are reliable, trustworthy, and consistently deliver value, enabling better decision-making and optimised operations.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle (discovery, design, build, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement) of all data products, aligning them with evolving business priorities.
  • Define product standards, documentation, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure data products are scalable, secure, and compliant with UK regulatory requirements (FCA, PRA, GDPR).

Stakeholder & Business Engagement

  • Partner with business and operations teams to understand needs and translate them into data product requirements.
  • Act as the advocate for internal and external customers within Gallagher UK for internal data consumers.
  • Communicate product vision, progress, and value to senior leadership.
  • Deliver training, workshops, and communication campaigns to raise awareness of data principles, best practices, and ensure adoption of data products.

Data Quality, Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure data products meet the highest standards of accuracy, lineage, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Data Governance and Quality to embed ownership, stewardship, and metadata management.
  • Support the metadata strategy, including the development of business glossaries and data dictionaries for Gallagher UK, to simplify usability and reusability of data assets.
  • Execute the delivery of Master and Reference data products, working with Data Governance and Data Technology to implement the MDM (Master Data Management) strategy.
  • Oversee compliance with GDPR, data ethics, and insurance-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in data governance committees, providing expertise and guidance on data product initiatives.

About You

Key Requirements

You will bring to this role:

  • Proven experience leading data product teams or data strategy functions within insurance or financial services.
  • Deep understanding of insurance data domains, including underwriting, pricing, claims, actuarial, risk, and customer management.
  • Track record of building and scaling data products in complex, highly regulated environments.
  • Expertise in modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and data architecture concepts.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (especially influencing senior leaders).
  • Experience with agile product delivery and product management frameworks.
  • Solid grasp of UK regulatory requirements (GDPR, FCA, PRA).
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning, AI, or advanced analytics products.
  • Background in data governance, metadata management, or data quality frameworks.
  • Experience in digital transformation or modernisation programs.
  • Further credit for holding professional certifications (e.g., Agile, Product Management, DAMA, cloud certifications).
