Job Title & Details
Head of Demand Planning Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum Car Allowance: £5,000 per annum Bonus: Up to 15% of annual salary Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 Flexitime: Core hours 09:30 – 14:30, with the ability to accrue an additional day’s leave per quarter Reporting To: Director, Global Business Planning Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
The Head of Demand Planning is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and improvement of the business’s demand forecasting process and strategy, including input into the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This role is a global, senior planning position within the PPE organisation, collaborating at all business levels and across all business functions.
Core Responsibilities
Demand Planning Leadership
- Develop and lead the monthly Demand Planning process, acting as the bridge between commercial teams, finance, and supply chain.
Forecasting Strategy
- Direct the generation and implementation of consensus demand planning at PPE, including its strategic use as a decision-making tool.
- Assess, recommend, and implement Demand Planning Software, ensuring robust data management processes to optimise supply chain performance and maximise customer service.
Team Leadership
- Mentor, manage, and scale the demand planning team, establishing and driving performance metrics such as:
- Forecast accuracy
- Bias mitigation
- Value-add deliverables
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to validate customer demand, demand forecasts, and market changes, improving collective knowledge.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead ongoing assessment, recommendation, and implementation of:
- Forecasting best practices
- Process adherence
- Tools and reporting software platforms
- Best-in-class processes and practices

Travel
- Based at IDEX’s headquarters in Blackburn, UK, with required travel to:
- US facility in Brenham, Texas
- Other locations, suppliers, and customers
Scope & Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Make demand, consensus management decisions impacting stakeholders.
- Manage and facilitate the Demand Planning process, supporting SIOP, SIOE, and strategic supply chain initiatives.
- Contribute to annual and strategic planning, defining direction for planning teams.
- Advanced Demand Planning Maturity, enhancing local planning and business teams.
KPI Governance:
- Oversee Finished Goods (FG) product availability and service (OTIF / OTD).
- Govern forecast accuracy and demand planning performance.
- Ensure adherence to KPIs and effective demand planning systems.
- Drive improvements in OTIF, sales performance, inventory, and overall business performance.
Leadership & Process Optimisation:
- Lead the demand planning team, fostering engagement and collaboration.
- Drive improvements in systems, reporting, processes and Team capabilities.
- Facilitate demand performance analysis, providing actionable improvements.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in demand planning, strategic demand planning, and change management.
- Exceptional understanding of technology tools enabling demand planning and reporting.
- Ability to use tools supporting collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of finance, sales, marketing, manufacturing, planning, and procurement functions.
- Strong numeracy, analytical skills, and ability to translate data into high-level analysis.
- Experience with Integrated Business Planning (IBP), best practices, and successful methodologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Suite and reporting tools (Power BI).
- Knowledge of end-to-end planning and supply chain management.
- Proven sales Reporting and improving systems- (SAP ERP).
- Experience in people and line management.
Key Competencies:
- Ability to manage multiple projects while focusing on KPIs (e.g., forecast accuracy improvement, process adherence, stock turns, ROI).
- Drive high-performing demand planning deas to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Improve demand planning systems, reporting, and team decision-making.
