Job Title & Compensation
Head of Demand Planning
- Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum
- Car Allowance: £5,000 per annum
- Bonus: up to 15% of annual salary
- Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 08.30 – 17.00
- Flexi Time: Core hours 09:30 – 14:30, with an additional day leave accrued per quarter
Reports To: Director, Global Business Planning
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
About the Role
The Head of Demand Planning leads the development, implementation, and improvement of the business demand forecasting process and strategy, including input into the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
This is a global, senior planning position within the PPE organisation, requiring collaboration across all business levels and functions.
Core Responsibilities
Demand Planning Leadership
- Develop and lead the monthly Demand Planning process, bridging commercial teams, finance, and supply chain.
Forecasting Strategy
- Direct consensus demand planning and use demand planning as a key decision-making strategy tool.
- Assess, recommend, and implement demand planning software, ensuring robust data management and best practices for supply chain optimisation and enhanced customer service.
Team Leadership
- Mentor, manage, and scale the demand planning team.
- Establish and drive performance metrics, including forecast accuracy, bias, and value-add.

Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with and improve demand planning knowledge with internal/external stakeholders to validate customer demand, forecast accuracy, and market trends.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead ongoing assessment, recommendation, and implementation of forecasting best practices, processes, and reporting platforms.
Travel
- Primarily based in Blackburn, UK, with expected travel to the US facility in Brenham, Texas, and other sites as required.
Scope of the Role
The Head of Demand Planning is responsible for:
- Making decisions that impact demand planning, demand consensus management, and stakeholder communication.
- Identifying and resolving plan variances, risks, and opportunities across the business.
- Managing and facilitating the Demand Planning process while contributing to S&OP and strategic initiatives.
- Supporting annual and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with growth and revenue targets.
- Accelerating demand planning maturity across local planning and business teams.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintaining finished goods product availability and service levels (on-time, in-full – OTIF/OTD).
- Implementing and adhering to the demand planning process.
- Overseeing forecast accuracy governance and performance metrics.
- Improving demand planning systems, reporting, and team effectiveness.
- Driving data-led decision-making to optimise customer service, sales performance, and inventory.
- Providing strong leadership across functions, fostering collaboration and engagement.
Governance & KPI Management
- Implementing and monitoring IDEX planning systems, with localised development for PPE.
- Addressing and correcting anti-competitive demand planning behaviours affecting S&OP KPIs.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in demand planning, strategic demand planning, and demand planning change management.
- Exceptional knowledge of technology tools (e.g., reporting platforms, collaboration tools).
- Strong business acumen covering finance, sales, marketing, manufacturing, planning, and procurement.
- Proficient in data analysis, with the ability to translate insights into high-level strategies.
- Experience with:
- Integrated Business Planning (IBP)
- Microsoft suite & reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
- End-to-end planning & supply chain management
- SAP ERP systems
- Proven team & project management experience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while achieving KPIs (e.g., forecast accuracy, stock turns, ROI).

- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
- Capacity to build collaborative cross-functional partnerships (commercial to distribution).
- Storytelling expertise to drive data-driven decisions.
- Ability to translate business goals into actionable processes.
