Role Description
The Head of Department & Work Based Learning is a full-time, on-site role located in Herne Bay. This role oversees the construction training department, ensuring high-quality delivery of courses and effective support for adult learners.

Responsibilities

- Managing staff
- Coordinating timetables
- Monitoring learner progress
- Leading curriculum development to ensure programs meet industry standards
- Building and maintaining relationships with employers
- Developing work-based learning opportunities
- Aligning training with current and future workforce skills needs
- Providing leadership in training and development
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality requirements
- Contributing to strategic planning for the center’s growth
Qualifications
- Strong Training & Development and Training skills, with experience delivering and overseeing vocational programs for adult learners.
- Proficiency in Curriculum Development, including designing, reviewing, and updating course content to meet industry and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrated capability in Leadership Development, with experience mentoring and supporting instructional staff and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience in Talent Management, including identifying learner and staff development needs and implementing effective progression pathways.
- Relevant teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, or equivalent) and experience in the construction or vocational education sector.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employers and external partners.
- Proven ability to manage departmental budgets, meet performance targets, and ensure compliance with quality assurance and regulatory frameworks.
